This tour starts at 4:00PM on Monday, April 29, 2019 in Lisbon.

Day 1: Cascais 

On your arrival in Lisbon, you will be met by your private chauffeur for your transfer to our seafront hotel in Cascais. In the afternoon, we'll start the tour with an introductory walk around the seaside resort and the historical fishing village of Cascais, followed by a welcome dinner at a traditional seafood restaurant in the Old Town of Cascais, where we'll get to know each other and enjoy an informal discussion about Portugal's history and present.

Day 2: Queluz and Belem  

Today, we'll start the day with a tour of the rose-colored rococo Queluz Palace and enjoy a gourmet lunch at the palace's Old Kitchen turned exclusive restaurant, before touring the lush palace gardens created for Queen Maria I in the mid-18th century. Afterwards, we'll continue to the marvel of Manueline architecture, Lisbon's UNESCO World Heritage Site of Belem, built in 1515 to protect Lisbon's Harbor. We'll join our private guide for an in-depth tour of the Belem Tower, the Discoveries Monument and the Monastery of Jeronimos, . After returning to the hotel, the rest of the afternoon will be free to explore Cascais or we may decide to take a walk along the beach promenade to the next seaside resort: Estoril, best known for its Casino Royal, the birth-place of James Bond novels.

Day 3: Sintra - Cabo da Roca 

In the morning, we'll travel to the romantic town of Sintra. Full of whimsical villas and palaces veiled in tangled vegetation, it was the favorite escape of English Romantic poets. We'll start with a guided visit of the Palace of Pena, a fantasy hilltop castle built by Prince Ferdinand. After visiting the palace, there will be free time for lunch and further exploring this improbably beautiful town, and in the afternoon, we'll take the theatrical tour of the extravagant Palacio Nacional da Vila, which Portugal's best preserved Royal Residence from Medieval times. From Sintra, we'll take a short drive to Cabo da Roca - Europe's rugged westernmost point and enjoy a gourmet dinner at a clifftop fortress turned romantic restaurant in a secluded location of Guincho Beach.

Day 4: Azeitao - Jose Maria de Fonseca Estate 

After a free morning today, we'll travel to Azeitao, a picturesque artists' colony, located in the bloom covered Arrabida Mountains. We'll start with a tour of the National Sanctuary of Christ the King, an imposing religious monument dedicted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, which overlooks the city of Lisbon across the vast Tagus River. Afterwards, we'll continue to the Jose Maria de Fonseca Estate, producing wines in vineyards planted by the Romans 2,000 years ago. The tour will be followed by a wine tasting and sampling of local cheeses, breads and pates. In the evening, we'll enjoy a traditional Portuguese dinner accompanied by live Portuguese fado music, the original Portuguese "blues".

Day 5: Cascais - Lisbon - Obidos 

After leaving Cascais, we'll stop in Lisbon for a historical walking tour of Lisbon's Old Town Quarter, St. George's Castle, and several historical monuments from the rich history of the city. There will also be free time for lunch or shopping, before continuing to the walled town of Obidos. After checking into the Casa das Senhoras Rainhas (which appropriately translates to "The House of Queens"), we'll have a welcome drink and some time to relax before a candlelight dinner at the hotel's intimate restaurant.

Day 6: Obidos and Quinta de Sanguinhal 
In the morning, we'll tour the Moorish castle and the highlights of the medieval town of Obidos, the town of Queens, which was traditionally presented to Portuguese queens as their wedding gift. Then, we'll have free time to further explore Obidos, relax on the terrace overlooking the picturesque town or browse through the artisans' shops. In the afternoon, we'll take a short drive to the very special Quinta de Sanguinhal winery which produces award winning wines, where we'll tour the vineyard and the winery, taste locally produced wines and enjoy an elegant vineyard dinner.

Day 7: Tomar - Fatima 
Today, we'll travel to the Knights Templar headquarters, the awe-inspiring Convento de Christo in the medieval town of Tomar. During the guided tour of the castle, we'll follow the tragic history of the Knights Templar, then explore the town of Tomar. Afterwards, we'll travel to the religious pilgrimage site of Fatima and experience the religious and political power of this site before returning to Obidos. In the evening, we'll relax over dinner at the hotel's restaurant.

Day 8: Batalha - Alcobaca - Nazare 
After breakfast, we'll join our guide for a private visit to the Battle Abbey of Batalha, a perfect example of the magnificent Manueline architecture and a monument commemorating an important moment in Portuguese history. Afterwards, we'll visit the 12th century Monastery of Alcobaca, before continuing to the picturesque village of Nazare to spend some time on the burnished gold-colored cliffs, the wide sandy beaches and take in the flavors of Nazare's fishing village atmosphere and its folklore. In the late afternoon, we'll return to Obidos for another gourmet dinner at the hotel's restaurant.

Day 9: Lisbon 
Today, we'll travel back to Lisbon and after checking into our upscale, urban resort Lisbon hotel, we'll visit the Gulbenkian Museum, famous not only for its varied art collections, but also for its imaginative displays and beautiful gardens. We can spend the afternoon at our leisure, pursuing our interests or catching up on last minute shopping. In the evening, we'll celebrate our Portuguese adventure and new friends during the farewell dinner at a private, traditional Portuguese home.

Day 10: Departures from Lisbon 
You can spend the morning on individual exploration of Lisbon, before your private transportation to the Lisbon airport, according to your flight departure time.

Why travel with other women?
Many women do not have families or compatible friends who wish to travel. When going on a main-stream tour, women often find that most activities are geared towards couples and quite often they feel left out. Singles' tours are not always what women are looking for. If you do not have a traveling companion, there is also the issue of the expensive "single supplement", sometimes as much as 50 or even 100 percent of the tour cost.
