We'll spend the first 3 nights in Cairo at the exclusive Mena House Hotel. The hotel is beautifully set in its own landscaped gardens in a time-honored location, overlooking the Sphinx and the Giza Pyramids, one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World and only twenty minutes from Cairo's city center. Built as a hunting lodge and base for exploring the pyramids by Khedive Ismail, a 19th century Egyptian ruler, Mena House was patronized in the early days by international royalty and high society, a trend that continued after its conversion to a hotel. Churchill and Roosevelt met here to plan the D-Day invasions, and there are suites in their names to commemorate the event. The hotel's amenities include a pool, a spa and a fully equipped health and fitness center. The hotel's restaurants and bars provide a variety of international and local cuisine. With modern luxury in mind, the state of the art rooms are generously sized, offering the latest in-room facilities and services. Each bright room features a private balcony, A/C, complimentary WiFi, LCD TV, in-room safe, a minibar, coffee and tea making service, and complimentary bottled water. The marble bathrooms include hair dryers, robes, slippers, and Italian toiletries.
We'll spend 2 nights in Luxor, at the upscale Sonesta St. George Hotel on the banks of the Nile. Located only minutes from world-renowned historic sites including the Valleys of the Kings and Queens, the Luxor Temple, the Luxor Museum, and the Karnak Temple with the Sound and Light Show, the hotel is an ideal setting from which to explore the area. After touring, guests relax in the hotel's Key of Life Health Club, dine in one of its restaurants, soak in the pool, or enjoy a refreshing beverage as they gaze at the Nile. Classical elegance and contemporary décor are reflected throughout the 322 guest rooms and suites, combining eternal style with generous comfort. Richly decorated marble bathrooms and soft fabrics create a relaxing atmosphere, complemented by panoramic views of the Nile River. All rooms feature flat screen televisions, luxurious linens and individual climate control, as well as WiFi Internet, hair dryers, mini-bars, direct-dial telephones, and digital safes.
We’ll spend 4 nights on one of the most luxurious and comfortable cruise liners on the Nile, the Historia. The ship’s Noria Restaurant is complemented by magnificent views and features an extensive selection of local and international cuisine. After returning to Cairo, we'll be staying for 1 night at the Le Méridien Cairo Airport Hotel. The hotel's restaurants range from Lebanese and Singaporean to a high-energy sports bar. There is also a heated outdoor pool and a fitness center.
