Testimonials

I loved the itinerary, quality of accommodations, and the variety of urban/wild destinations. I loved the Amazon river cruise, especially having it at the beginning with no internet available meant that the women all got to know each other and bonded well. – Deirdre from MD

You all do a fabulous job! Each trip is enhanced by the wonderful, intelligent women I meet each time I travel with you. I love learning something new and seeing something new each day. It was quite an adventure and I had wonderful experiences. – Rhoda from Florida

I really enjoyed the Rio Negro cruise, but Iguazu Falls was truly spectacular. I also liked the day trip to Uruguay, the bird park, and optional helicopter ride over the falls. Our local guides were all very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. – Adrianne from Florida

Thanks for putting this tour together. I love the quality of the experience and the hotels. – Debby from Illinois

Argentina was fantastic - such a vibrant and exciting country! The food, the sights and the people are outstanding. Kerry is a great tour leader as she has a great sense of humour and she is patient, enthusiastic, and concerned about everyone. Thanks for another wonderful travel experience. - Pam from Alberta

The sights were all equally fabulous. What I enjoyed the most were all the other people and how we all hit it off so fast & easily, the dinners and accommodations were fantastic. The trip seemed to be for the correct length of time. I would have liked some more free time for shopping, although I really did like the flexibility shown by Yolanta. - Gayle from Hawaii

Kerry was a fantastic tour leader. She has a great problem solving ability (a record rainfall in Buenos Aires), great sense of humor and a positive attitude. I would love to travel with her again. - Arnetta from Florida

Loved it! It was a trip of a lifetime, and I’m so glad I decided to book with Sights and Soul. The places we visited and the people we met along the way in Argentina couldn’t have been better, and I enjoyed it all. Kerry was ever helpful, and we had plenty of issues (rain and delays), and she handled them all with class and great skill. - Julia from California

This was my first time touring with S + S, and I was very impressed! More than I expected and I really enjoyed the company of the group. - Jane from Florida

I confess, I wasn’t really all that excited about birds, and animals on the Amazon, but this trip was so much fun. It was so much more. I am really glad I took this tour.  I love all my trips with Sights and Soul, but Brazil might have moved up to my favorite. – Donna from Texas

The entire Amazon trip exceeded my expectations in every way. The boat, crew, food, accommodations, excursions were all fantastic! The guides made everything interesting, but I loved the night excursions and stories about local legends best of all. It was an amazing trip. - Heather from North Carolina

It was a great trip, absolutely fabulous. Lots of wonderful memories. See you on another continent one day. - Kate from Ontario

It was a wonderful experience. The Rivers, rainforest, cruise, food, excursions were fantastic and I will recommend the trip to my friends.  We did have a great group, and I appreciate everyone and admire their passion to travel. - Janice from Hawaii

Thank you for a perfect tour! I wouldn't have changed a thing. Excellent company, crew, guides, food, excursions and sights! - Bonnie from British Columbia

Thanks Yolanta for a wonderful experience. I haven't been able to get much done at work yet as I wax poetic and awestruck each time a co-worker asks me about my trip! - Heather from Ontario

The trip was amazing.  Thank you for creating a great trip on a wonderful boat with such nice staff & informative guides.  This is definitely a trip to fondly remember... the birds, more birds, even more birds, actually see sloths moving, taxi ride on a motorcycle, rivers of 2 different colors, rubber dripping from a cut in a tree, the town & the village & the kids. Just so many wonderful moments. - Joyce from Massachusetts

I have taken 3 trips with Sights and Soul and each one was unique, great fun and very well organized. I'm very picky and this company exceeds my expectations! I plan to travel on even more tours with Yolanta! - Debra from California

The Wonders of Brazil and Argentina tour covers the most iconic sights of South America: the Amazon rainforest, Rio de Janeiro, both the Brazilian and Argentine Iguazu Falls, and Buenos Aires with a day trip to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. The tour combines both countries' cinematic landscapes, kaleidoscopic culture, the head-spinning biodiversity, and constant expressions of joie de vivre in a carefully designed itinerary.

One of the world's wonders, the Amazon, has fascinated travelers and dreamers since its discovery in 1542 by Francisco de Orellana, and today the 3,900 mile-long Amazon River and its tributaries is the last great wilderness of its kind. It contains over half the world's species of birds and thousands of species of mammals and plants. It is populated by the river people and tribes of Indians who crisscross this vast system of rivers, streams and canals in their wooden boats and canoes. Taking a small clipper up the Rio Negro and then up the Amazon is truly a voyage of a lifetime, an unforgettable journey sailing the Earth's mightiest river into areas penetrated by only a privileged few. As the comfortable expedition ship docks along the river shore, experienced naturalists will take us into remote estuaries in the Amazon rainforest. We will explore the pristine wilderness areas teeming with wildlife and meet the indigenous people, and at the day's end, we'll enjoy the comforts of our floating hotel, wholesome meals prepared with fresh ingredients and naturalists' talks on flora and fauna of the Amazon.

Flanked by gorgeous mountains, white sand beaches and verdant rainforests, Rio de Janeiro enjoys one of the most spectacular settings of any metropolis in the world. As one of the world's most vibrant urban landscapes, nestled picturesquely between jungle covered mountains and the sea, the city is famous for its tropical mix of beach vibe, samba music, football fervor, and of course Carnival. The residents of Rio, known as Cariocas, have perfected the art of living well: from the world-famous beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema to the scenic viewpoints of Corcovado and Sugar Loaf, the open-air cafes and neighborhood barbecues seduce the visitors, as much as they are enjoyed by locals. While we're staying at an oceanfront luxury hotel, we'll get a chance to experience the best of Rio: Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain, a colorful a samba lesson, Tijuca Forest, a sunset cruise on Rio's Guanabara Bay and a churrascarias barbecue at a neighborhood cafe in Santa Teresa. There will also be time to relax and people-watch on the famous beaches.

Iguazu Falls redefines the idea of Mother Nature's power, and the torrent thundering over the edges of cliffs is one of the greatest spectacles on Earth. One of the planet's most awe-inspiring sights, the Iguazu Falls are simply breath-taking. The 275 falls are 2 miles wide and 260 feet high, which makes them wider than Victoria, higher than Niagara, and more beautiful than either. Neither words nor photographs do the falls justice; they must be seen and heard in person, as the views at the precipice are hypnotizing. We will be experiencing the Iguazu Falls on a multi-sensory level: roaring falls, multiple rainbow arcs, drenching mist, and in the distance, parrots and hawks cruising over the deep, green jungle. Our experience will be enhanced by seeing both the Brazilian and the Argentine side of the falls, while staying at the only hotel located inside the Iguazu National Park will allow us to appreciate the falls without the crowds, before and after the park closes.

Buenos Aires is a city of surreal contrasts: seductive yet soulful, pulsating with music and tango dancing around every street corner, then giving in to the fervor of soccer, cosmopolitan while offering historical paradoxes that make sense only here. During our stay in the city, we'll take a private, in-depth city tour and discover the colorful neighborhoods of La Boca, San Telmo, Retiro and Recoleta, as well as the fascinating Recoleta Cemetery. We'll enjoy a breathtaking tango show in the opulence of a restored 1920s theatre. We'll attend a private wine presentation to learn the art of distinguishing among Argentine wines. We'll visit a romantic estancia set among the limitless Argentine pampas, enjoy a gaucho performance showcasing horse riding and we'll venture to explore the beautiful Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay by an express ferry. We'll enjoy wine tastings, special dinners and exquisite designer shopping;

  • We will spend 4 days onboard the comfortable Clipper Premium expedition ship, exploring the least settled areas of the Amazon, the true wilderness rarely seen by other visitors, and participating in daily explorative talks on the Amazon's flora and fauna.
  • In Rio de Janeiro, we'll be staying at a luxury oceanfront hotel on Copacabana Beach. We'll take a city tour with a private guide, take a cog train through the Tijuca Forest to Christ the Redeemer, cable cars to Sugar Loaf Mountain, a private boat in the Guanabara Bay and see a dazzling a samba lesson.
  • In Iguazu Falls, we'll unwind in the luxury of our hotel in the midst of the untamed subtropical forest, as we explore one of the natural wonders of the world: the stunning Iguazu Falls. Our stay at the only hotel within Iguazu Falls National Park, will grant for us an elevated appreciation of the falls. We'll explore the stunning waterfalls and the rainforest surrounding them, making our way around by open train, zodiac boat and on foot, visiting the Bird Sanctuary, taking an evening guided tour to look for nocturnal rainbows and taking a Macuco Safari operated on jeeps and boats.
  • In Buenos Aires, we'll take an in-depth city tour and discover the colorful neighborhoods of La Boca, San Telmo, Retiro and Recoleta, as well as the fascinating Recoleta cemetery. We'll enjoy a breathtaking tango show, attend a private wine presentation on Argentine wines, visit a romantic estancia set among the limitless pampas, and venture out to visit the beautiful Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay.Throughout the tour you will dine in carefully selected gourmet restaurants and sample many delicious wines and exceptionally innovative cuisine.

What the Media Says About Us

The Future of Women Travel: More Adventure, Less Shopping
"When I told people I was going to the Amazon, their jaws dropped," says Joswick. "I think this is because we tend to think of it as a dangerous, difficult and uncomfortable place: heat, bugs, snakes, wild animals, piranhas, you name it. "But going the way we did, on a comfortable boat, with excellent guides, I never felt I was in danger. The heat was bearable, and I never even saw a mosquito!" In the past most Sights and Soul tour destinations have been in Europe, with a focus on cultural landmarks. For the Amazon tour, Barnes had to switch gears: "We replaced cathedrals, art, gourmet restaurants and spas with the stillness of the Rio Negro, the floating meadows of the Amazon, the monkeys, cayman and sloths. more

A Women's Trip to Argentina: Buenos Aires and Iguazu Falls
South America is becoming one of the most popular destinations for travelers who have already been to Europe and other places and are looking for something more exciting, and different. Sights and Soul Travels offers a twist–their Argentina tour is for women only! We spoke to some of the women who have gone on Sights and Soul’s trips to this destination to get their thoughts on the journey. The trip, offered again this year from November 2-8, 2014, begins in Buenos Aires for four nights at a 4-star boutique hotel in the city’s Recoleta neighborhood, in the heart of this thriving metropolis. more
