Winter Tour to Norway - Accommodations

In Oslo, we’ll be staying for 2 nights at the Thon Hotel Opera. Located right next door to the Oslo City shopping center and the Oslo Central Station, with stunning city views, the hotel is also close to Karl Johan Gate, Royal Palace, the Akershus Fortress, the Nobel Peace Center, and the Barcode skyscraper with its restaurants and bars. Guests at Thon Hotel Opera can enjoy a fitness center with an outdoor terrace with views of the city, the Scala Restaurant, a stylish lounge, and free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Fresh fruit, homemade bread and both hot and cold dishes are served at breakfast each morning. All rooms at Thon Hotel Opera are non-smoking and allergy-friendly, designed with a modern-style décor, featuring classic dark-wood furnishings, and are Eco-Lighthouse certified. Each room comes with an armchair, mini-bar, tea and coffee station, an iron with ironing board, safe, Bose music system, and flat screen TV. Bathrooms have a shower, hairdryer and upscale toiletries.

In Kirkenes, we'll be staying for 1 night at the Snowhotel. As one of the most amazing hotels in the world, it offers unique accommodations, set in idyllic surroundings of the Gabba Reindeer Park, with lit up ice sculptures around the hotel create a Winter Wonderland atmosphere. Guests can enjoy the Ice Bar, a restaurant and a sauna, and there is free WiFi in the hotel's public areas. In winter, the hotel has 24 arctic themed snow suites, each beautifully decorated with snow and ice, featuring different themes from Arctic culture or nature. Every room in Kirkenes Snowhotel is like a small jewel, carved in ice. Thermal bedspreads, and warm and thick sleeping bags will make the overnight stay a comfortable yet incredible experience. Shared bathroom facilities are located in the service building. There are also optional activities: husky rides, king crab safaris, northern lights tours and snowmobiling. This will be an experience of a lifetime.

While cruising along the West Coast of Norway, we will be staying for 5 nights on Hurtigruten's MS Trollfjord. Built in 2002, the Trollfjord sails along Norway’s coast and visits 34 ports of call. On board, there are 284 staterooms for the maximum of 568 passengers and 7 decks, staffed by 70 Norwegian crew members. The ship's interior design is bright and open, making extensive use of Norwegian wood and stone in addition to a selection of Norwegian contemporary art and wall-to-wall windows which bathe the ship in natural light and provide glittering views of the Norwegian coastline. Some of the ship's amenities include a sun deck, large panorama and observation lounges, 2 restaurants, 4 bars, 5 lounges, a spa, a fitness room, a gift shop and a library. Each cabin is stylishly designed and features private bathrooms with shower, tea and coffee making facilities, either two twin beds or a double bed and a large window for the stunning views of the Norwegian Coastline. All cabins will be facing outside. As part of the travel experience, the ship offers onboard lectures, activities, and demonstrations related to the areas we'll be visiting.

In Bergen, we'll be staying for 2 nights at the Clarion Admiral Hotel. Jutting out over the water of Vagen Bay, this polished hotel is housed in 1904-built warehouse buildings, across the fjord from medieval wharf area of Bryggen. Guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi, laundry services, room service, a beautiful terrace with views of the harbor and pier, and an excellent restaurant featuring creative Scandinavian dishes by renowed chef Marcus Samuelsson. The breakfast buffet is served in a sophisticated restaurant with views of the vivid Bryggen houses, occasional live music and an international menu. Scandinavian design rooms features flat-screen TV, Duxiana beds, mini bars, desks, and some have view over the bay. The modern bathrooms feature rain showers, and reflect the understated elegance and Norwegian sophistication.

In the highly unlikely event that our original accommodations must be changed, the alternative accommodations will be a hotel of equal or higher standard. No change will made to the cost of the tour.

Why travel with other women?
Many women do not have families or compatible friends who wish to travel. When going on a main-stream tour, women often find that most activities are geared towards couples and quite often they feel left out. Singles' tours are not always what women are looking for. If you do not have a traveling companion, there is also the issue of the expensive "single supplement", sometimes as much as 50 or even 100 percent of the tour cost. By going on women-only tours, women can easily avoid paying for the single supplement by sharing a room with another woman traveler.
