BUDAPEST
AND THE TRANSDANUBIA

TOUR OVERVIEW

My heart and mind are still in Hungary. I can't begin to tell you how much fun I had and what a wonderful time it was for me. You have again created such a fantastic combination of sights, food, wine, adventures, and good companionship!

Marcia from California

Long a favorite among the Europeans, the Belle Epoque city of Budapest is becoming one of the most popular European cities. The Budapest and the Transdanubia tour offers a unique insight into Hungarian history, music, cultural diversity and cuisine. The country's natural beauty, vineyards, castles and architectural gems are a guaranteed feast for the senses. Take the night-time champagne cruise on the Danube, when the banks are lit up with millions of lights spilling over the hills. Enjoy the many opulent spas and thermal baths, then swim among the water lilies at the thermal lake of Heviz spa. Attend an opera and dance to the fiery Gypsy music, see the horse show in the Puszta, learn to cook gourmet Hungarian dishes and sample delicious full-bodied Hungarian wines.

  • Spend 5 days in Budapest, the magnificent capital of Hungary; and the next 4 days in the spa resort of Heviz, situated on the largest thermal lake in Europe and surrounded by the stunning countryside of the Bakony Mountains and Lake Balaton, before returning to Budapest for an additional day of exploring the city and shopping;

  • While in Budapest, tour the Buda Castle, Heroes Square, Mattyas Church and Fishermen's BastionDohany Synagogue, the Parliament, Fine Arts Gallery and other highlights of the city. Relax at the traditional
    Szechenyi Baths, attend the Opera or a folk dance performance, take an evening Danube champagne cruise and even learn to cook Hungarian dishes;

  • During your stay in Budapest, tour the Danube Bend and see the medieval town of Szentendre, enjoy a Puszta horsemanship show, see the Godollo Palace and spend time in the frozen-in-time village of Holloko;
  • While in Heviz, spend a day exploring the region's vineyards and sampling their wines, another day visiting the baroque Castle of Keszthely and enjoying the Heviz thermal lake;
  • Take advantage of the many opportunities to enjoy the resort's spa treatments and massage;
  • Visit castles and palaces ranging in style from medieval and Renaissance to baroque and rococo;
  • Throughout the tour, dine in carefully selected gourmet restaurants, getting to know and appreciate the Hungarian cuisine, especially organic vegetables and exotic spices.
